The Sierra Nevada Mountains

The Sierra Nevada Mountains are located in the state of California. They are part of the Cascade-Sierra Mountains province, which in turn is part of the larger Pacific Mountain System physiographic division. The highest peak in the lower 48 states, Mount Whitney, is located in the Sierras.
