Horse Ridge, the smooth and undulating plain on the left of the image, is a massive peneplain. It existed before the Wind River Range was uplifted, floating above the scouring glaciers of the ice age and now remains as an indication of what the range once looked like. The jagged peaks to the right are the major peaks of the Wind River Mountains and themselves constitute the Continental Divide. The snow covered summit in the Center is Gannett Peak, Wyoming's highest mountain at 13,804 feet above sea level.
